Softmods are a little different for each Wii version. The 4.3 Wii console may experience some difficulties with some softmods, which is why I’m here to tell you what works, and what doesn’t work on your 4.3 updated version.
What Doesn’t Work
Most people are still trying to download "unlock codes" and "hacks" which will unlock their Wii and allow them full access into all of its features, or so it says. STOP DOING THIS. You are wasting your time, and quite possibly your money. If you install the wrong files onto your Wii, you can kiss it goodbye. Believe me, I did this, and you do not want to have to buy a new Wii because you keep getting the error screen and can’t seem to reverse anything.
In addition to all these codes and software, there’s the Wii unlocking mod chips. Now, these can do a pretty good job, but let me ask you this one question: if you could unlock your Wii even further without a mod chip, would you do it? What if I were to tell you that it was even cheaper than a mod chip? Well, that may sound too good to be true, but it’s not, because I did it to my Wii (updated to 4.3) and it has never been better in terms of functionality and flexibility.
What Does Work
The Wii Unlocker is a guide that walks you through, step by step, how to unlock your Wii to reveal all of the features that it has to offer. This works, and I have not seen or run into any problems with it so far. It took less than 30 minutes to do, and only costs $29, which is way worth it to me since it costs like $600 or more to buy a modded Wii off of eBay and whatnot.
Is It Worth It?
I’d say, overall, that the Wii Unlocker was worth it for me. To be honest, there is really nothing to lose, though, as if you do not want it, or find that it does not work for you, then you can get your money back, no questions asked. In my professional, nerdy opinion, I’d say get the Wii Unlocker, and if you don’t want to take it any further then get your money back within the 60 days and you will not have lost anything.
On a final note, the Wii Unlocker is the only real decent way out there (I’ve been around the forums) to actually unlock you Wii without losing any of its original functionality. This was a huge selling point for me since I did not want to completely re-program my Wii, just improve upon it.
